A 59-year-old Lewisville man died Sunday night after his motorcycle collided with another motorist’s vehicle on U.S. Highway 380.

Andrew Floyd Garner was pronounced dead at Texas Health Presbyterian Denton at 7:23 p.m. Sunday, said Troy Taylor, chief death investigator with the Denton County branch of the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Texas Highway Patrol troopers were called around 6:35 p.m. to an accident on U.S. Highway 380 near Smith Road in Denton County, officials said.

Garner was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson Sportster eastbound on U.S. 380 when he struck a 2003 Chevy Venture traveling westbound, said Sgt. Lonny Haschel, a spokesman with the Texas Highway Patrol.

The Chevy van turned south into a private parking lot when Garner’s motorcycle struck the van on the side, he said.

The driver of the van, a 66-year-old man from Denton, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Garner was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, officials said.

Garner’s exact cause of death is pending an autopsy, Taylor said.

The accident remains under investigation, Haschel said.
