Blotter: Garage fire results in $300,000 in damages

Seven vehicles were reported damaged after an auto repair shop caught fire Tuesday morning.

The fire, located in the 2400 block of Worthington Drive, was dispatched at midnight, said Kenneth Hedges, spokesman for the Denton Fire Department.

“Crews had to breach roll-up doors to access the seat of the fire,” he said.

Two adjacent businesses had slight smoke damage, but the fire wall kept the majority of the damage to the garage of the auto repair shop, officials said.

The fire, Hedges said, was under control by 12:59 a.m. and was completely out after 1:30 a.m.

The estimated dollar loss is around $300,000, including the seven vehicles that were inside the garage at the time of the fire, he said.

The cause remains under investigation.
