The death of a 35-year-old woman who was found dead with a gunshot wound in her Lewisville home is being investigated as a homicide, according to Lewisville police.

Lesley Wood was found in her home Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Wake Forest Drive, according to Lewisville police Capt. Jay Powell.

She had a gunshot wound to the head that did not appear to be self-inflicted, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police went to the home where Wood lived after receiving a request after 7 p.m. to make a welfare check after she missed an appointment.

Police said they are following up on leads and a full investigation is under way.
