Blotter: Police investigate stabbing

A stabbing reported on New Year’s Eve is under investigation, Denton police said.

A 33-year-old Denton man told police that an intruder came into his residence uninvited shortly before 5:30 p.m. and that an argument ensued.

During the confrontation, the 33-year-old resident was stabbed in the chest with an unknown object, according to Denton police reports.

The man had a cut on his chest that was bleeding, but he refused transportation to a hospital.

Police said the suspect had already fled the scene before officers arrived.

Intersection of Edwards and Mayhill roads — A 29-year-old man reported to police that he was the victim of an alleged aggravated assault Tuesday morning.

According to reports, police responded to a hit-and-run accident shortly after 9 a.m. When officers arrived, the 29-year-old victim reported that someone intentionally rammed his vehicle twice and then started hitting him.

No charges have been filed, reports show.

2700 block of West University Drive — A 37-year-old man was charged with theft after he was caught allegedly concealing merchandise under his jacket at a store Tuesday.

Police said the man was charged with theft under $50 and possession of a certain instrument used to commit retail theft.
