Blotter: Police report Fort Worth man shot in leg

A man was shot in the leg after a dispute with a large group of people, police said.

The man, a 21-year-old Fort Worth resident, was shot in the 600 block of West Collins Street after 11 p.m. Monday.

Officer Ryan Grelle, spokesman for Denton police, said he could not release details about the incident pending the ongoing investigation.

The argument that ended with a gunshot in Denton began in Dallas, he said.

The man’s condition was not available, but police said the wound was not life-threatening.

Other reports:

600 block of Bell Avenue — A 25-year-old Denton resident told police she was scammed recently. According to reports, she lost $1,000 trying to lease a home.

33000 block of Lighthouse Drive — A 14-year-old boy was taken to the Denton County Juvenile Detention Center after he confronted his family Monday night, police said.

According to police, the boy was yelling, acting out and punching the walls of their residence. At one point, he threw an object at his 3-year-old brother, causing injury to the youngster’s forehead, according to police.


From 7 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday:

Thirty-six people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Denton police responded to 331 service and officer-initiated calls and posted 12 reports online.

Denton firefighters responded to 17 medical calls, nine accidents and one water leak.

Lewisville police made 10 arrests.

The Colony firefighters responded to three reports of icy road conditions and assisted three agencies.

Additional call logs were not available due to inclement weather.
