A 51-year-old man suspected of driving a motorcycle while intoxicated is in the hospital after being involved in an accident Saturday evening along Interstate 35E, officials said.

The accident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-35E near mile marker 462 at 6:47 p.m. and involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle, Ford Expedition and an unknown third vehicle, Denton police said..

Witnesses told police they saw the motorcycle weaving in and out of traffic prior to the accident.  As the motorcyclist was moving through traffic, he clipped a vehicle and then ran into the rear of the Expedition.

The initial vehicle struck left the scene without stopping, police said.

Officer Shane Kizer, spokesman for Denton police, stated in a press release that it appears the operator of the motorcycle was under the influence of alcohol.

The driver, whose identity was not released, was transported by ambulance to Denton Regional Medical Center in stable condition.

Kizer said none of the four occupants of the Expedition reported any injuries.

The accident remains under investigation, officials said.
