A Carrollton woman who was charged with murder in Tarrant County in connection with a July 2013 shooting was arrested Friday in The Colony.

According to Tarrant County officials, Lashyla Schoonover violated a condition of her bond, triggering a warrant from Tarrant County.

Schoonover, 26, had several other outstanding warrants as well, including driving with an expired driver’s license, running a stop sign, running a red light, driving with an invalid license and driving without wearing a seat beat, according to The Colony police report.

During the arrest, officer also discovered three pills inside of Schoonover’s purse, according to the report. Schoonover said she had a prescription for the pills, but she left the bottle at her Carrollton home. Police did not charge her for not having a prescription for the pills.

Schoonover was out on bond and awaiting her day in court when she was arrested. Schoonover is charged with the murder of Lawrence Gomez, 32, from Fort Worth.

Fort Worth investigators believe Schoonover and two others — Richard Hernandez, 29, and Chauncey McCallum, 30 — went to the Arbors Apartments in the 3700 block of Vaucluse Drive near Dallas-Fort Worth Airport on July 15 in search of Gomez, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Outside the apartment, Schoonover, Hernandez and McCallum approached Gomez and they fired numerous shots striking Gomez twice in the chest, the article stated.

Gomez died a short time later at a hospital. McCallum is in Dallas County, and Hernandez is still in custody in Tarrant County, records show.

After her arrest Friday, Schoonover was transported to Carrollton and then booked Saturday into Denton County Jail.
