Dillard’s confirms no store at Rayzor Ranch

Dillard’s commitment to renovate and expand its store in Golden Triangle Mall means the company will not have a location at the Rayzor Ranch Town Center, calling off 126,000 square feet of new construction, officials confirmed.

The renovations that have already happened at the mall along with other plans underway have led to a renewed commitment to Golden Triangle instead of the town center, which is set to start construction this year.

“We are not committed to Rayzor Ranch, so our presence in Denton will be limited to Golden Triangle Mall for the foreseeable future,” said Julie Johnson Bull of Dillard’s.

In a news release, Dillard’s officials said that the renovations have “been embraced by Dillard’s shoppers,” and they believe the mall is the best location for them in Denton.

Rayzor Ranch Town Center announced in 2012 that Dillard’s would be an anchor retailer in the development and it remained the sole retailer named for the project until this year.

Initially, RED Development, owner and operator of Rayzor Ranch, said that Dillard’s would construct a 126,000-square-foot store. The store was going to be an anchor as part of an open-air retail and entertainment development across from the now-bustling Rayzor Ranch Marketplace.

The announcement leaves Cinemark Movie Bistro as the only planned retailer at the property that has been announced.

Construction has not yet begun, and a schedule of construction and additional openings has not been released.

In a written statement, Stephanie Whitlow, director of marketing and communications for RED, said the developer is not yet sure how the decision by Dillard’s will impact the development.

“We understand that Dillard’s is taking another look at its strategy for Denton and has announced plans to renovate its existing store in the market,” she wrote.
