The body of a 31-year-old man was found shortly before noon Sunday after he was reported missing Friday evening on Lewisville Lake.

Officials identified the man as Blake Taylor Long of Little Elm.

A call came in Friday at about 9:15 p.m. about a man and a woman having difficulty in a bass boat on the Lake Dallas side of the lake, said Game Warden Daron Blackerby.

By the time Lewisville Fire Department rescue crews arrived, the boat had begun to sink and the woman was found clinging to the top, Blackerby said. Crews were able to get the woman to safety, but the man was already missing.

Officials searched an area stretching from north of the old dam to the shoreline to the Westlake Park boat ramp and north in an area known as Party Cove. Using sonar, officials said they found the man’s body at 11:28 a.m. Sunday about 200 yards offshore in 20 feet of water. The Denton County Sheriff’s Office and the Lewisville Fire Department assisted in the search.

It is the first drowning death on the lake this year. Last year, Denton County officials said, there were nine drownings in area lakes.
