Teen pronounced dead at scene after crash

A Decatur teenager was killed Friday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Denton County, officials said.

A pickup driven by Bobby Colton Perkins, 17, hit a tree in the 7900 block of West FM455 near Sanger and Perkins was ejected from the vehicle, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website.

Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:15 a.m., officials said. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, but investigators said speed could have been a contributing factor.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office worked the accident.
