Denton police arrested three men in connection with the Friday morning robbery of Synergy Bank, thanks to a help from a resident who followed the suspects from the bank’s branch in the 2200 block of W. University Drive.

Someone from the bank called 911 about 9:20 a.m., saying that three men entered the bank and demanded money. One of the men had a gun. When they left, the caller stated they observed the men get in a vehicle and head east on University Drive, according to a police report.

As responding officers were en route, Denton Police received another call from a citizen who had followed the suspects to a nearby neighborhood. The caller reported that the three men had abandoned the vehicle and were on foot.

Officers set up a perimeter to search for the men and had them in custody by 10:30 a.m. Two were arrested in the 2300 block of Houston Place. The third suspect was arrested in the 2200 block of Scripture Street, according to the police report.
