Rain is in the forecast for at least the next six hours, according to the National Weather Service in Forth Worth.
Dennis Cain, meteorologist with the NWS, said light to moderate rainfall is predicted for Denton County from now until at least 7-8 p.m. as the rain makes its way through the area.
He said there could be some periods where heavy rainfall does occur and there is a possibility for some embedded thunderstorms to pop up throughout the afternoon/early evening hours.
The main threat is still flooding, officials said.
“Right now grounds are already saturated….nothing is soaking in,” Cain said. “For the most part we will be seeing moderate rainfall.”
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the area until 1 a.m. Thursday.
