Woman dead as result of domestic disturbance in Pilot Point

One woman is dead and the accused shooter is in the hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a Wednesday night domestic disturbance in Pilot Point.

According to a Pilot Point Police Department news release, officers were dispatched at a little after 8 p.m. to the 300 block of South Church Street regarding the disturbance.

When officers arrived, they learned that the suspect, 50-year-old Wilford Holmes, drove his truck into a residential driveway, striking two other vehicles. Holmes reportedly approached the victim, Rhonda Holmes, and fired at her once, killing her.

The type of gun used has not been released yet.

The 69-year-old mother of the victim was also injured as a result of the crash and the victim’s 83-year-old father was physically assaulted by Holmes prior to him turning the gun on himself.

At the time of news release, Holmes was still at Plano Medical Center, the extent of his injuries has not been released.
