Haskins receives two-year sentence

Wee Beasties frontman Richard Haskins has been given a two-year prison sentence for a probation violation.

Sitting in jail since last March, Haskins has more than 250 days credited behind bars, which could lead to his parole in just a few months.

“The goal was to get the minimum sentence,” said Haskins’ attorney, Craig Flory. “He is happy, I am happy. The district attorney was very fair to him and he is very appreciative of all the community support he received.

Flory said the Denton community support helped when negotiating Haskins sentence with the district attorney’s office.

Haskins was arrested in December 2012 for attempting to rob the Wells Fargo Bank on West University Drive. He had been sentence to 10 years probation in that case.
