Denton High School volleyball head coach Gerry Standridge has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, according to Denton ISD spokesman Mario Zavala.
Zavala said Wednesday that an internal investigation began Monday and revolved around reports of Standridge acting unprofessionally with team members and staff. Zavala said there has not been any information of Standridge engaging in any inappropriate conduct with students.
Both Denton High Principal Joel Hays and Denton ISD athletic director Joey Florence declined to comment on the situation.
Standridge was named head coach in May 2016 after spending the previous two seasons at Gainesville High School. He has also taught in special education classrooms and is certified as a special education teacher by the State Board of Education.
Prior to working in Gainesville, he spent time at Dawson Community College in Montana.
The Lady Broncos made the postseason for the sixth consecutive year this past season, falling in the bi-district round of the playoffs to Saginaw Boswell to cap a 16-16 season.
