Denton police called the Department of Family and Protective Services on Monday afternoon after receiving reports of two young, dirty children asking strangers to walk them home.
Denton police were dispatched to an apartment after they received the call at 4:18 p.m. The children, whose ages were between 4 and 6 years old, had been asking random strangers to walk them home near the 200 block of Avenue F, according to the police report.
A caller told police that the children were dirty and had several scabs, the report said. They also had bite marks on their legs, the report said.
Denton police called the residents of the apartment, which the caller said was dirty, and checked on the children's welfare. The report did not specify whether police contacted the children's parents or legal guardians. It's also unclear whether the children lived in the apartment.
No arrests were made.
100 block of East Massey Street — A 27-year-old woman called police Monday saying she had been punched in the face by her husband, according to a police report.
The husband and wife were pushing each other inside their home when the man struck the woman in the face with his fist, the report said. The man also put his hands around the victim's neck during the altercation but did not restrict her ability to breathe, the report said.
Police were dispatched to the home at about 3 p.m., but the man fled the scene in his vehicle before officers arrived. The woman said she was hurt at the time of the assault but had no pain and was not injured when the police arrived, according to the report.
800 block of Bushey Street — A 29-year-old man said Monday that his ex-girlfriend struck him with a vehicle in an open parking lot near Bushey Street.
The exact time of the incident remains unclear.
The man reported the incident at 2:40 p.m. Monday, about 36 hours after the woman allegedly struck him, according to the Denton police report. The ex-girlfriend, however, filed a report for assault and criminal mischief shortly after the incident, the report said.
The man claims he and his ex-girlfriend started fighting in the vehicle when he got out and walked. He said the woman, who was not identified in the report, drove her vehicle over the curb and struck him in an open parking lot.
The report did not include further information.
