The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for much of North Texas, including Denton County, until 10 p.m. today.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop along the dryline, initially west of U.S. Highway 281 this afternoon, according to the weather service. These storms may then spread east across the Interstate 35 corridor and points east through the late evening hours. Severe weather will be possible, with the main threats in the form of large hail, potentially larger than golf balls in the strongest storms and damaging winds. There will be a threat for a few tornadoes with the strongest storms as well.
