The Lake Dallas police dispatch line will convert to the Denton County Sheriff's Office's communications division beginning Monday.
Lake Dallas residents who call 911 will be routed to an operator with the sheriff's office, who will then dispatch a local officer. Callers should provide their location and the nature of their emergency to operators as well as stay on the line.
"Nothing should change for the citizens of Lake Dallas except who answers the phone," Lake Dallas Police Chief Dan Carolla said in a press release. "The Lake Dallas Police Department will still be responsible for responding to calls placed to 911 and the non-emergency number."
For non-emergencies, residents should call 940-349-1600, ext. 9. Police administrators will still be available to answer calls during normal business hours at the office number 940-497-2228.
