Victims of fatal motorcycle wreck were engaged

The second victim of a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday in Aubrey has been identified as 50-year-old Shannon Casada of Dallas, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.

Casada's fiance, 52-year-old Ralph Muirhead, was driving a black Harley-Davidson northbound in the 9700 block of U.S. Highway 377 in Aubrey at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday when it collided with a GMC pickup . Casada had been the passenger on the motorcycle, and the couple were pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver, 47-year-old Barry Keith Boyd of Tioga, fled the scene but was later arrested a few miles away, police said. He faces two felony charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and one charge of accident involving injury or death. He is currently in Denton County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bail.

Jail records show Boyd previously has been arrested multiple times on alcohol-related charges. Aubrey police Lt. Bill Townsend said he is still investigating the details surrounding the accident.

Casada and Muirhead were recently engaged. According to Jesus Diaz De Leon, a family friend of Casada, their wedding had been scheduled for October.

De Leon, a 20-year-old student at Tyler Junior College, said Casada has three children. He said he's close friends with Casada's twin boys, as they attended Rowlett High School together.

"The twins had invited me to their house, and she was so warming," he said of his early interactions with Casada. "She instantly invited me to sit there and have dinner with them."

De Leon started a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral costs at http://bit.ly/2shfBkr.
