The Shady Shores Town Council voted unanimously to extend its contract with the Corinth Police Department during its regular meeting Monday night.
The town's current contract with the agency expires at the end of September and the council opened up the bidding process for a new one. Both the Denton County Sheriff's Department and Corinth Police submitted bids.
After a work session to discuss the bids, the council directed staff members to begin negotiations for a five-year contract with Corinth. Deputy Town Secretary Amber Schuler said several residents spoke during the public comment portion of the meeting. Some voiced concerns while others showed support for a continuation of Corinth's services.
Since Shady Shores doesn't have its own police department, the Corinth Police Department has been providing services for the past decade.
