Shooting victim expected to live; police continue search for suspect

The 26-year-old victim of a shooting Monday evening near the intersection of Mingo Drive and Bell Avenue is expected to survive, according to Denton police spokesman Shane Kizer.

The man was taken to Medical City Denton with multiple gunshot wounds at about 7 p.m. Police are continuing their investigation and have not identified a suspect, he said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, had been driving a Jaguar southbound on Mingo Road. After the man approached the stoplight at Bell Avenue, a man driving a vehicle in the adjacent lane shot him and fled the scene, Kizer said.

The Jaguar then veered left, crossed the opposite lanes and drove through a metal fence surrounding Massey Auto Sales Service & Parts.

No other injuries were reported.
