Blotter: Shooting suspect remains at large

Denton police are still searching for a suspect in a shooting Monday evening at the intersection of Mingo Road and North Bell Avenue.

The victim, a 26-year-old Lewisville resident, was still being treated at Medical City Denton as of Wednesday afternoon, according to Denton police spokesman Shane Kizer. The man sustained at least two gunshot wounds but is expected to survive, according to authorities.

Police have not released a name or description of either the victim or the male suspect. While police said both men knew each other from previous interactions, investigators are working to establish a motive, Kizer said.

He said the suspect and victim had been driving southbound on Mingo Road about 6:40 p.m. Monday. The victim was driving a Jaguar XF and the suspect a small sedan, police said.

When both cars approached the  traffic signal at Bell Avenue, the suspect fired multiple shots at the victim, causing the victim to veer left and crash his vehicle into the metal fence surrounding Massey Auto Sales Service & Parts, Kizer said.

The suspect fled the scene before an off-duty officer came upon the wreckage.
