Cyclist seriously injured after hit-and-run

Denton police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that hit and seriously injured a 52-year-old cyclist early Monday morning in the 1400 block of East University Drive.

Police said the male cyclist's injuries were not life-threatening. Denton Fire and Rescue responded to the crash at 1:42 a.m., after the driver had fled the scene without providing information to authorities, police said.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a silver Dodge Charger, Dart or Chrysler. They said the vehicle was a "200 or 300 type," and it was made between 2011 and 2017, according to police.

The vehicle is missing its passenger-side rear view mirror. Police are asking anyone with information to call Officer Sean Aja at 940-349-7941.
