North Central Texas College regents again postponed a decision about redeveloping the old Denton Record-Chronicle building into a downtown campus during a meeting Thursday.
In June, the community college announced plans to transform the building at 314 E. Hickory St. into a new campus for downtown Denton. Since then, no plans have been finalized between the current building owner, The Martino Group, and NCTC.
On Thursday morning, regents met in a special-call meeting at the main campus in Gainesville. The agenda included discussion and possible approval of a pre-development agreement with Links Construction, a sister company to Martino Group. It was the second consecutive meeting regents postponed action that would move the project forward.
During the regent's meeting in August, the board discussed a pre-construction agreement with Links Construction that would cost $537,934. They tabled the decision so that the regent subcommittees on buildings and finance could consider the proposal more closely.
The regents will meet again 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in Gainesville.
