The Denco Area 9-1-1 District is honoring two 9-year-old girls for directing authorities to their homes during an emergency call.
Both girls will be awarded with a medal and a certificate at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Denco Area 9-1-1 District training room, 1075 Princeton St. in Lewisville.
Elizabeth Yanni of Little Elm used a cellphone to call 911 when her mother was having an medical emergency. She was instrumental in getting the ambulance to the right place, according to Denco deputy executive director Greg Ballentine. She also followed medical instructions from the dispatcher before authorities arrived.
Daphne Wilson of Sanger called 911 when her family's home caught fire. She was giving the dispatcher information about her location while her father battled the blaze, Ballentine said.
"They were traumatized, but they did really well," he said.
