Northwest ISD taps Harvest development as site for new elementary school

The Northwest ISD school board voted in favor of building the district's 19th elementary school in the Harvest master-planned community located between Northlake and Argyle.

Joeris General Contractors will begin construction on the school, dubbed Elementary School No. 19 for now, in May. It is expected to open for the 2019-2020 school year. The district as a whole enrolls zpproximately 22,000 students across Denton, Tarrant and Wise counties.

The school board also approved the purchase of a 148-acre school site in Northlake near the Harvest development. It is expected to house a future high school, middle school and stadium complex, but district officials said the timeline is dependent on student enrollment growth and potential bond funds.

Northwest ISD won't have the only school in Harvest, though. Argyle ISD announced in August that it would build its second elementary school in the master-planned community as part of its $166 bond package voters approved in May. The school is expected to open in fall 2019 and house up to 850 students.
