UNT student partners with police to create special accommodations card

A University of North Texas student has partnered with the UNT Police Department to create an accommodations card for students with special needs.

The card, which can be kept with a person's ID, is designed to help emergency responders communicate with students who need special accommodations. It states the nature of the person's special needs and provides information on how to most effectively facilitate communication.

Christianna Walker is the president of UNT's Tuesday Night Flight, a social support group for UNT students on the autism spectrum. She went to UNT police Cpl. Kevin Crawford with her concerns, and the two worked together to create the card.

They are available in the Sullivant Public Safety Center at 1700 Wilshire St. Students can also email Crawford at Kevin.Crawford@unt.edu.
