Bartonville resident and former Lewisville ISD board member Brenda Latham has filed to run for Denton County Court of Commissioners Precinct 4 on the 2018 Republican primary ballot, according to a campaign news release.
Latham joins Itamar Gelbman, a Republican businessman from Flower Mound, in the race for the seat. Current Pct. 4 Commissioner Andy Eads recently announced his intention to run for county judge.
The winner of the primary will move on to the general election in November.
Precinct 4 covers the southwest portion of Denton County, including Krum, Ponder, Argyle and South Denton.
A lifelong Denton County resident, Latham and her family recently moved from Lewisville to Bartonville, the news release said. She served on the Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees from 2010 to 2016, and she also has experience owning small businesses.
