Two former Denton-area football players are among four men accused of raping a teenage girl last summer.
DaCoven Marquis Bailey of Pilot Point and Xavier Demarcus Scott of Denton, both of whom graduated in 2016, have been arrested and charged with sexual assault, according to a report by KXII-TV (Channel 12) in Sherman.
The assault occurred July 2 in Pilot Point. Bailey was the only suspect the 15-year-old victim could identify to police in December, KXII reported. He was arrested and charged with sexual assault on Dec. 29, and released the next day after posting $20,000 bail, according to Denton County Jail records.
Scott, Treymon Oneil Johnson of Denton and Desmen Raje Crawford of Valley View were arrested and charged with sexual assault on Jan. 19. All three were released the same day after posting $10,000 bail each.
After graduating from Pilot Point High School, Bailey went on to play two years at Rutgers University in New Jersey. He appeared in 23 games for the Scarlet Knights, but a school spokesman told KXII-TV Bailey was removed from the roster and dismissed from the team following his arrest in December.
After Scott graduated from Denton High School, he signed with East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, and played in five games for the Tigers as a freshman. He did not appear in a game last season and was not listed on the team's roster as of Friday afternoon.
"I didn't raise my son to be that way," Bailey's mother, Shileta Bailey, told KXII-TV. "I didn't raise him to do those things but everybody gets caught up in certain situations."
