Blotter: Woman arrested after throwing steaks in pool

A 47-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after she was accused of "flipping out" and throwing food into a pool at a home in the 2200 block of North Locust Street. 

Police initially received a report that someone's "drunk wife" was throwing steaks and other food into a pool. The caller also said the person had a protective order against the woman. 

Police charged the woman with assault causing bodily injury and violation of a protective order. She was taken to Denton City Jail.

700 block of Fort Worth Drive — A 17-year-old boy was arrested on a marijuana possession charge Sunday after letting officers inside his Studio 6 motel room. 

Police first smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the room during a foot patrol in the hallway at about 10:30 a.m., according to a police report. 

Officers knocked on the door and contacted at least two unidentified occupants, police said. 
The occupants let police inside the room where the officers found an unspecified amount of marijuana, the reports states. 

The suspect was taken to Denton City Jail. 

1800 block of Broadway Street —  Residents of a west Denton home called out a suspicious man crouched down with a flashlight in their backyard on Sunday, according to a police report. 

Witnesses said the man then ran to a nearby car and fled the scene, but not before the residents recorded the license plate. Police said the man was most likely interested in their tool shed. 

No crime occurred, and no arrests were made, police said. 


From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday:

The Denton County Sheriff's Office handled 2,268 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies it serves, and 97 people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Denton police handled 410 calls for service and made 59 arrests.

Denton firefighters responded to 89 medical calls, eight vehicle crashes, one building fire and one cooking fire.
