Blotter: Police investigate claim of sexual assault

Denton police are investigating a transient woman's sexual assault claim after she willingly spent the night with a man she met on Monday in Fort Worth, according to department spokesman Shane Kizer.

Police contacted the 27-year-old woman at 9 a.m. Tuesday at a business in the 2100 block of James Street, where she told an office worker that she was scared someone had been chasing her, Kizer said. She also told worker she believes she may have been kidnapped, and the worker relayed the information to police.

The suspect, a 24-year-old Denton man, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. Kizer said there's no evidence of a sexual assault or kidnapping so far in the investigation.

Kizer said the two met in Fort Worth and did drugs together at the woman's friend's house. The woman opted to leave the home with the man, who agreed to get her a motel in Denton, Kizer said.

On the way to Denton, the woman said they stopped at a motel and had non-consensual sex. Later, they stopped at the Center Point Mobile Home Community in Denton in the 2200 block of Fort Worth Drive, where the suspect and his father lived, according to Kizer.

Parked in an SUV near the suspect's father's house, the suspect and victim had sex in the vehicle, Kizer said. The victim claimed it wasn't consensual.

After spending the night with the suspect in the truck, the victim ran to a nearby business and said she had escaped a kidnapping.

The investigation is ongoing.

Isaiah Price also had two outstanding burglary warrants from Love County, Oklahoma, Denton City Jail records show. The report did not include the location and time of all of his alleged vehicle burglaries in Denton.

Most recently, police said Price broke a woman's car window and stole her wallet out of the center console at the Denton Public Library North Branch, the report said. Tracking the suspect using a stolen cellphone, police found Price at Water Works Park in the 2400 block of Long Road, the report said.

The woman's wallet had been returned, and Price was taken to the city jail.
