Mrs. Eloise Gene Worthy, of Aubrey, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 21, 2011.Arrangements are pending with Slay Memorial Funeral Center.

Laura Laird Haynie, 41 of Valley View went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2011 after a two year battle with brain cancer.She was born October 10, 1969 in Denton to Norvil and Delores Laird. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Tioga and graduated from Denton High School in 1988.She married Ronnie Haynie on January 21, 1989.She was employed by the Mustang SUD.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Haynie of Valley View; son, Blake Haynie of Valley View; parents, Norvil and Delores Laird; brother, Eric and Tambi Laird of Argyle; niece, Erika and husband, James Cutforth; nephews, Luke and Scott Laird and Michael Todd; grandmother, Ruth Foster of Denton. She is preceded in death by grandparents, Williard and Aline Laird, Vernon Foster and nephew, Max Laird.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 from 3 to 5 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:30 pm at The Cross Timbers Community Church in Argyle with Revs. Toby Slough, Reggie Logan and Milton Pledger officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Burns City.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Legacy Brain Cancer Research, 1325 Pennsylvania Ave., Suite 690, Fort Worth, Texas 76104.

 

 

Jane M. Cole Jane M. Cole

Jane M. Cole, a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in San Antonio at age 84.

Jane was born September 13, 1926, in Paducah, TX, the daughter of Elitle William Kemper McGowan and Virginia Dale Hill. She married Joe E. Cole in 1947 in Lubbock and they had 43 wonderful years together before his death in 1990. Jane was a resident of Denton for 43 years and relocated to San Antonio in 2005 to be near her grandchildren.

She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Texas Tech University. She was a long time fourth grade teacher in Denton at North Texas Laboratory School and Ginnings Elementary School. She was named Denton Classroom Teacher of the Year.

Jane was a former president of the Denton Classroom Teacher's Association, Iota Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Denton Retired Teacher's Association and Shakespeare Club. She was a member of the Denton Women's Club and active in Ann's Haven Hospice. Jane was a long time member of Singing Oaks Church of Christ in Denton and devoted attendee of Mission Point Christian Church in San Antonio.

Jane loved to travel with her most memorable trip being to Japan and China at the time of her granddaughter's adoption. She was an active volunteer for various charitable organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe E. Cole, and brother, Bill McGowan.

Jane is survived by her son, Dr. Joe L. and wife, Dr. Mika Cole; three grandchildren, David, Cynthia and Hana, all of San Antonio; sister, Mary Lou Riley and husband, Robert of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Betty McGowan of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held in San Antonio on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Porter Loring on McCullough. A service will be held Friday, April 22, 2011 at 11 am in Porter Loring Chapel, San Antonio, TX.A visitation will also be held in Denton, TX at Denton Funeral Home, 120 S. Carroll Blvd. on Saturday, April 23, 2011 from 10 to 11 am. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 23, 2011, 12:00 pm at Roselawn Cemetary in Denton.
