Mildred Anita Coffman, 87, of Denton passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 in Denton.She was born April 30, 1924 in Attwood, OK to Leander and Josie Jones Pound.She married Duard Coffman on January 27, 1943 in San Diego, CA.He preceded her in death on February 22, 2000.She was in sales at Montgomery Ward Catalog before her retirement.
Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2011 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. before the service at 4:00 in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Rev. Larry Reynolds officiating.
She is survived by daughters, Anita Diane Gunderson-May and husband Clifton of Artesia, NM, Cheryl Hudgens and husband Wayne of Denton; son, Duard K. Coffman, Jr. and wife Andrea of Austin; 4 grandchildren, Jana Gunderson, Eric Gunderson and wife Denise, Marli Kay and husband Michael, Brett Hudgens, 3 step-grandchildren, Trey and Jake Craft and Erin Kirks Bradshaw and 3 great grandchildren, Shelby Aguiliar, Jason Bloomer and Tyler Kay.

Harry Cullum Phillips, Jr., 87, of Denton passed away Thursday, December 08, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton. He was born January 1, 1924 in Baltimore, MD to Harry Cullum Phillips and Mildred Frances Adams Phillips. He married Patricia Marie Jones on November 6, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY. She preceded him in death.
During WW II he served in the U.S. Merchant Marines as an Engineering Officer, seeing duty in the South Pacific in the battle for Guadalcanal. He then enlisted as a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army Transportation Corp before being discharged in December 1946.
After graduating in 1951 from University of North Carolina, he worked for the U.S. Department of State USAID in Peru, Philippines and Ecuador. He worked for the World Bank as a large construction progress manager on civic building activities in Nigeria, India, Brazil, Venezuela and Saudi Arabia from 1975 to 1985.He oversaw the building of 27 Holiday Inn Hotels and Motels in Mexico and throughout the Caribbean. In 1986 he moved to Denton and founded Pinoak Custom Homes, building over 70 homes in the greater Denton area.He was an avid ocean sailor. He was a loving faithful husband and a kind wise father.
He was a member of St. David of Wales Church in Denton, South Denton Rotary Club, Keep Denton Beautiful and the Denton City Traffic Safety Board.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Schleich and husband Wolfgang of Ulm, Germany, Joan Ann Wood of Sierra Vista, AZ; sons, Harry Phillips, III of Denton, Mark Phillips and wife Patty of Spring, TX, Michael Phillips of Kerrville, TX and Matthew Phillips of Groesbeck, TX; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at St. David of Wales Church with Father H. W. Hermann officiating.Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Barbara Ruth Spears, age 65, from Justin, Texas passed away December 13, 2011. Barbara was born December 23, 1945 to Orville and Silvia (Akers) Mason in San Antonio, Texas. Barbara is preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Herbert and Orville (Danny), and sisters, Lillian, Carol and Mary Ellen. Barbara leaves behind to cherish his memories, sons Harvey Spears and wife Michele and Michael Spears and wife Jen, daughter Connie Lawson and husband David; brothers Robert Mason and wife, Rushelle and Kenneth Mason and wife, Sarah of Texas; sisters Jean Mayes and husband, Wayne, Shirley Henry and husband, Patrick of Missouri; 16 grand-children and 4 great grand-children.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Bill DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 West University, Denton, Texas. Burial at 2:15 PM at Justin Cemetery, Justin, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2011 at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 6 to 8 p.m.

Stephen W. McKinney, 52, of Aubrey, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 10, 2011, while mountain biking in Flower Mound from heart attack.
He was born August 10, 1959 in Arkansas to William and Clara Hopkins McKinney.
He married Kati Bell on November 4, 1999 in Flower Mound, Texas
Steve graduated from Columbia University after being stationed in Germany with the Army.Steve worked many years at Texas Instruments Defense Systems, Raytheon, and the past 12 years with Nokia and Nokia Siemens Network as a Senior Software Engineer.Steve was a man of boundless energy and tenacity.Steve enjoyed working constantly on his various interests; building his Harleys and riding to Sturgis many years.He landscaped a beautiful garden at his home, and worked on their horse ranch, welding fencing and building in his workshop.He became an avid mountain biker and was often on the trails.Steve was an extraordinary cook and served gourmet meals often to his family and friends.He was a very capable man and an exceptional father, husband, son, sibling, and friend.Many will remember seeing him out with his beloved little daughter, Quinn, to whom he was devoted.He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his loving wife, Kati and their young daughter and sons.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kati Bell and daughter, Quinn, both of Aubrey; sons, Jared Bell and Marlon Burton of Denton; parents, Bill and Clara McKinney of Mt. Home, Arkansas; sisters Lori and husband Pete Kunellis of Kansas City, Missouri, and Sheryl and husband, Rob Sorem of Edina, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 3:00 pm, at the Slay Memorial Funeral Center Chapel in Aubrey, Texas.

Donal (Don) Edward Green from Denton, TX transitioned at the age of 59 on October 18th, 2011.A loving husband, son, brother and friend will be missed. He is survived by his wife Patricia Alva-Green and their seven four-legged children; Evie, Patches, Dakota, Chica, Romeo, Rudy and Wyle; his parents Marguerite and Ed Green, sister Melonie Milne, a niece and a nephew.
Don was a gentle giant whose kindness impacted many. He had a special gift with animals and they honored and respected him for it.Don retired from IBM and was owner of Freedom Bail Bonds.

Gerald Louis Gordon, 52, of Denton passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Denton Regional Medical Center.He was born March 18, 1959 in Nocona, TX to Marvin Ray and Evelyn Aldridge Gordon.

George Harward, 15, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.
A funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Gateway Church, 7501 Davis Blvd., North Richland Hills. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. An additional memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Krum High School Auditorium.
George was born April 10, 1996. He attended Krum High School until the middle of this semester, when he moved to Afton to live with his grandmother. George was a gifted trumpet player. He made All Region Jazz Band while attending Krum High School and as a sophomore was a featured soloist in the marching show and participated in numerous UIL competitions. George was an active and inquisitive young man, and loved to hunt with his dad, always ready to learn something new. He will be remembered for his big heart, compassion for others and big smile, laughter and willingness to lend a helping hand, and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Survivors include Father, Norman Harward and stepmother, Connie; mother, Dallas Miller and stepfather, Jeff; sister, Helen Grace Harward; grandparents, Lowell and Aleene Harward; stepbrothers, Chase and Chris Miller; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Mary Ellen Milburn (70), born March 15, 1941, passed away December 12, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by parents Edwin and Louise Craig. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Hutch Milburn; daughter, Quinn Milburn of London, England; daughter, Bergen Santos, son-in-law, Bill Santos, and grandchildren, Joey Gabriano and Emma Gabriano of Frisco, Texas; and brother, Richard Craig of New York City.
Mary Ellen was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1954. After graduating from high school, she worked as a secretary for Allstate Insurance and IBM, where she met the love of her life, Hutch Milburn. They were married in 1968 in the Los Angeles area, where their daughters were born. In 1978, they moved to Round Rock, Texas and lived there 18 years before settling in the Denton area.
While living in Round Rock, Mary Ellen was actively involved in the Sam Bass Community Theater. She worked tirelessly as a volunteer director, stage manager, and administrator on more than 30 plays over a 10-year period. After moving to the Denton area, she worked for American Greetings as a card merchandiser and supervisor for 12 years.
In her later years, Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling on global cruises as well as various trips around the United States. She particularly loved being actively involved in her grandchildren's lives. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her husband, brother, parents, children and grandchildren. Family was always her priority.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Dr., Denton, Texas. Pastor Taylor Gardner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity benefiting cancer research.
