Daniel Lee Douglas

Daniel Lee Douglas born February 26, 1955 to Bill & Marie Douglas; passed away December 17, 2011 in Kerens, Texas. Danny is survived by his father, Bill Douglas of Troup; Three brothers & sisters-in-law; Bryan Douglas & Joanna Voss of Carrollton, Steve & Paula Douglas of Troup, and David Douglas & Gayle Cook of Krum. He is also survived by his best friend Shelly Townsend of Lake Dallas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Douglas. A private service will be held in Colorado at a later date.

 

 

Janice S. Soles

Janice S. Soles, 63 of Cumby lost her battle with liver disease and passed away peacefully on Dec. 17, 2011.  She was born in Dallas, TX the daughter of the late Delma and Robert Folse.  She was the youngest of five siblings.

Preceded in death by daughter, Kimberly Soles Yeck.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Gina Soles of Cumby; daughter, Tisha Soles of Cumby; grandchildren, Tiffany, Dakota, Kim, Hayden and Sophie, all of Cumby.

Visitation was held from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 at Commerce Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 in the Commerce Funeral Home chapel.

 

 

Billie Bronson Campbell Tate Billie Bronson Campbell Tate

Billie Bronson Campbell Tate, 93, of Denton, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011. She was born on October 19, 1918, in Bokchito, OK to Bronson Campbell and Thelma Riddle.

She married Wyeth Franklin Tate on April 17, 1948; he preceded her in death on September 1, 1976. She worked as the Secretary of the Biology Department at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA, for 26 years, retiring at the age of 78. She was a member of the Choctaw Tribe in Oklahoma.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W. University Dr., Denton, TX 76201.A chapel service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at Memorial Park in Tulsa, OK.

Billie is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Tate Webb; brother, Joe Lee Campbell; one grandchild, Bethany E. Hendrickson; and two great-grandchildren, Cassidy A. Hendrickson and Ashley L. Hendrickson. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Royal F. Campbell, and children Larry Wyeth and Jo Lynn.

 

 

Jo Ann Hamilton Jo Ann Hamilton

Jo Ann Hamilton, 79, of Denton, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Mrs. Hamilton was born on October 3, 1932 in Fort Worth, TX to Rayner and Mary Jane (Lee) Belcher. She graduated from North Texas State University and received her Masters of Science in Education from Howard Payne University. She was a Professor of Physical Education for Howard Payne University and retired from East Elementary School in Brownwood as a librarian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brownwood.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, TX.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her daughters, Patricia Antus and her husband Robert of Corinth, TX, Nina Goodwin and her husband Jesse of Blanco, TX; grandchildren, Jason Goodwin and his wife Keira, Cade Goodwin and his wife Samantha, Amanda Antus, Emily Antus; great-grandchildren, Annie Goodwin, Ellie Goodwin, Nicholas Goodwin, Eli Goodwin, Gracie Goodwin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Belcher.

Tina Waybright

Tina Waybright, born August 2, 1964 went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2011 after a short battle with cancer. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother.

She is survived by three children; and seven grandchildren.

She will be truly missed. Go rest high on that mountain, Angel.

We love you Mom.

 

 

Margie R. Taylor Margie R. Taylor

Margie R. Taylor, 75 of Denton, TX passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011 at her residence. She was born on November 4, 1936 in Tulsa, OK to George and Beulah (Riley) Taylor.

Survivors include, her life partner, Delores Massey; daughter, Scarlett Lauer of Denton, TX and Helen Scholl of Ponder, TX; brother, Tim Taylor of Cathedral City, CA; Godson, Sgt. Robert Letterio of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, George Taylor; sister, Marlene Taylor; and Isaac Letterio.

Arrangements are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

 

 

Morton Louis Gart

Morton Louis Gart (Morty) died at his home in North Texas on Sunday, December 18, 2011.Mort grew up in Denver, Colorado, and attended New Mexico Military Institute.The son of the founder of Gart's Sporting Goods, he also worked for The May Company, the Zale Corporation and later for Mrs. Trammel Crowe at the Anatole Hotel during his early retirement years.

Surviving him are his wife, Valeta, son-in-law and daughter, Steve and Lee Roepke, and grandchildren, Andie and Taylor Roepke, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Donna Gart, numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and many close friends.His mother and father, George and Goldie Gart preceded him in death.

Visitation will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W University Drive in Denton Texas at 6 PM on Wednesday, December 21. Funeral services will also be at DeBerry's at 10 AM on Thursday, December 22.He will be buried at Rosine Community Cemetery, in Rosine, Kentucky on December 26.

In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to make a donation to the Mort Gart 1952 Scholarship Fund, New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, New Mexico, or Ann's Haven VNA, Denton Texas, who lovingly cared for Mort during his final days.

 

 

Barbara D. Grider

Barbara D. Grider went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 19, 2011 at home after a long illness. She was born January 4, 1933 in Chickasaw, OK. She married James A. Grider on March 8, 1956 in Dallas, TX. She  is survived by her two sons, Darrell Lee Grider of Aubrey, TX and Danny Lee Grider of Coppell, TX; one daughter-in-law, Wanda; two grandsons, James Grider and Jodie Grider; one granddaughter, Katrina Cielo; one great granddaughter, Kristina; one sister, Louise Stewart; one brother, Paul Deen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; one son, David; and one grandson, Christopher.

Family viewing will be Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 6-8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton, TX.
