Glen Johnston Milne Glen Johnston Milne
Glen Johnston Milne was born on August 6, 1948 in Bamberg, Germany to John and Eileen Milne of Edinburgh, Scotland. He was the second of seven children. His siblings are Alan Milne of Abilene, twins Ronald Milne and Wayne Milne both of Keller, Diane Henry of North Richland Hills, Karen Milne of Irving, and Brian Milne of Dallas. His father's military career moved the family from Scotland, to Germany, then Kentucky, Colorado, and finally, Texas. His family lived in El Paso, Abilene, and Ft. Worth where he graduated from high school. He served in the US Army during Vietnam as a communications specialist and was deployed to Thailand. He gained many exciting stories from that time of friends he met and car crashed he barely survived. He graduated from UNT and was working on his master's degree when he met and married the love of his life, Melonie Lue, on August 23rd, 1980 in an elegantly simple outdoor ceremony at her parent's, Edward and Marguerite Green, home in Argyle, TX. They built their dream home across the street from where they wed and it served them for 31 years. Glen was multi-faceted and taught at UNT as a teaching fellow in the 80's and did carpentry for over 40 years. He had two children, Logan in '84 and Megan in '86. He was extremely involved in his children's lives, helping with home schooling and always encouraging and supporting all their endeavors. He was always a very passionate person and many people considered him their best friend or their second father. He gained more family with the addition of his daughter-in-law, Leah, daughter of Darrel and Gail Jenkins, in '05 and then his son-in-law, Jeff, son of Ken and Janice Tye, in 07. He was always a beacon of wisdom whether the topic was health, government, gardening or carpentry and was always willing to visit for hours and get to the bottom of an issue. The home he and Melonie created was a retreat of sorts. Glen kept a garden, a pool, made tree houses and play equipment and always had room for a needy animal. In '09 he enjoyed his first grandson, Liev Tye. Then in '11 his second, Wyatt Milne. His last days were filled with love, support, good conversations and the presence of God. He suffered lung cancer, but his spirit thrived in the loving care that was given to him by his family and friends and it seemed that his soul was truly at peace. Glen went to Jesus on December 30th, 2011 at home with his bride and his daughter by his side. The memorial service will be held at Hickory Creek Baptist Church on January 14th at 2 p.m. Since Glen was always a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy, his family has decided to wear some of his t-shirts in honor of him. "Dressing up" for him and focusing on his risen life in Jesus Christ and the happiness that that brings is their goal, so bright colors, a Beatles shirt or even a good 'ol flannel will do . In honor of Glen's generous, sincere, caring and passionate life, perform an unexpected, kind deed for a loved one today. Treasure the ones around you and focus on the positive in everyone.
