Charles Anathony Ettredge, age 56, formerly of Pilot Point passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012 in Louisiana.Services are pending with Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey.

 

 

Melba Joyce Welch Melba Joyce Welch

Melba Joyce Welch, 85, of Ponder, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012. She was born on October 19, 1926 in Krum to Robert McCormick and Lively Morris McCormick. She was a member of the Singing Oaks Church of Christ and the Twilight Garden Club of Denton. She married Billy Welch in 1953 and he preceded her in death in April of 1989.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 6-8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Don Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.

Melba is survived by her daughter, Patricia England and husband Terry Don; son, Dennis Welch and wife Kyla; brother, Morris McCormick; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy; her parents, Robert and Lively; son, Larry Welch; sisters, Anita Byrom and Mary Nell Arrington; and brother, Robert McCormick.

 

 

Charles Christopher Yarborough Charles Christopher Yarborough

Charles Christopher Yarborough passed away January 11, 2012 in Concord, California.He was the beloved son of the late Dr. Kemp Yarborough and is survived by his mother, Brigitte Yarborough.

Christopher was born August 3, 1956 in Leornardtown, Maryland. He moved to Denton with his family in 1965.He attended Denton public schools Woodrow Wilson, Congress, Strickland and graduated from Denton High School.

Christopher had a great love for his family and was fond of pets.He had many pets and took very good care of them. He attended the University of North Texas for two years where he was a member of the Astronomy Club. He had many other interests, such as photography, poetry and theater.

Known as an extremely hard worker, Christopher was employed at the Holiday Inn in Denton and the Marriott Hotel in Dallas. Twice, he moved to be near his brother, William, living in San Antonio and then California.Both locations had excellent facilities, where he received the latest treatments for his illness.

Survivors include his mother, Brigitte Yarborough nee Freiin Roeder von Diersburg, and his brother, William and wife, Inge and their children, Mark, Bryan and Erika Shelburne and grandson, Ethan Shelburne. He is also survived by a sister, Victoria Lisi and her husband, Julio and a niece, Astra Laughlin and her husband, Tony and nephew, Bryan Poyser and his fiancée, Kimberly LaBlanc.

A Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012 at ST. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1200 North Elm St.At 3 p.m., there will be a service at Good Samaritan Village, 2500 Hinkle Drive.

 

 

Michelle D. Place Michelle D. Place

Michelle D. Place of Krugerville passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 in Denton.Michelle lost a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born to Michael C. Downing, Sr. and Rita Urrutia Downing October 10, 1975 in McAllen, Texas. She married Gary Place in Fort Worth, Texas on February 14, 2004.

Michelle had the most giving, kind and gentle soul. Her family does not have the words to describe the nobility ofher character. She always put other people first. She was honest and very hardworking. She owned and operated a small private preschool where she had the opportunity to do something she loved. Even the most timid of children would open up to her.She loved the idea of giving young children a head start on their education and life skills. She had a love of live music, travel and fashion. Her love of fashion was not shallow in nature, but she saw a noble art that had the ability to make people feel good. She had an unbelievably sweet, caring and sincere personality.She was beautiful inside and out. She was her husband's wife, best friend, and the mother of their two daughters. She was loved and will be missed terribly.

Michelle is survived by her husband, Gary, two daughters Morgan and Sophia all of Krugerville; her parents, Michael and Rita Downing of College Station ; one brother, Michael Downing, Jr. of College Station; one sister, Melissa Novosad of College Station;grandmother, Eileen Stone of Aubrey; In laws, Dan and Dianne Whitfield of Aubrey, Gary and Darla Place of Fort Worth.She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Slay Memorial Funeral Center Chapel in Aubrey. Services will be held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Tim Thompson officiating. Burial will follow the services at Belew Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Terri Slay and staff at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey, Texas.
