Irene Thompson Campbell
Irene Thompson Campbell passed away on February 17, 2012 in Denton, Texas. She was born in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma on January 27, 1917. She married J. Roy Thompson on August 11, 1933. They lived in Kim, Colorado prior to moving to Long Beach, California. In 1941 they moved to Hale County Texas where they resided in the Halfway and Snyder communities before moving to Plainview in 1945. For many years she served as secretary for College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview. In 1997 she moved to Denton, Texas where she resided at Fairhaven Retirement Home followed by the past several years at The Vintage.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, J. Roy Thompson and Jay Campbell, and her son, Larry Thompson.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Sue Thompson of Denton; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview, Texas.
