Mildred Marcella Wardlow, 91, of Denton, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at her home in Denton.
Mrs. Wardlow was born on September 12, 1920 in Slidell, TX to Robert Lee and Mary Frances (Baxter) Simpkins. She graduated from Krum High School. She was married to Charlie Wardlow on June 19, 1943 in Denton. She worked as a Houseparent at the Denton State School for over twenty-three years.
She is survived by her son, James Lewis Childers of Denton, TX; daughters, Marcy Hatley of Darlington, IN, Robbie Perry of Morgan, TX, Marie French of Denton, TX; she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Pauline Wardlow and a son Jonnie Wardlow. Also survived by sisters, Nell Young of Asheville, NC, Betty Bell of Athens, TX; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren..
A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday May 6, 2012 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 7, 2012 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Krum.
