STRAWN – Merry Margaret Johnson Cook, 85, of Denton, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 in Fort Worth. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Davidson Cemetery with Rev. Michael Jones officiating and under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.
Mrs. Cook was born September 17, 1926 in Texon, TX to Raymond Elroy and Mary Caro Johnson.She married Wendell Barrett Cook in 1944.He preceded her in death in 2009.She was a homemaker and had worked for Mobil Oil for five years in the late 1960s.She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church in Denton; a member of the Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas from 1973 to 2011; prior to that a charter member of Fannin Terrace Baptist Church in Midland.She served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years, sang in the Sanctuary Choir, worked with International Friends, and Women’s Missionary Union.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Cook McAskill and husband Mac of Denton; sons, Barry Cook and wife Linda of Conroe and Jim Cook and wife Donna of Whitney; grandsons, Joel Cook and wife Heidi, Nathan Brown and wife Tara, Brad Cook and wife Jessica, Robert Kilmer and Stephen Cook; granddaughters, Melissa Rishel and husband Bruce, Sarah Albright and Emily Cook; great-grandchildren, Asa and Cy Rishel, Clara, Dawson and Macie Cook, Aidan and Alexis Albright, Saul and Eli Cook, Griffith and Savannah Brown.
