Jesse Frank Bishop, 80, of Denton, passed away at TX Health Presbyterian Denton on Monday, June 18th from congestive heart failure. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville, TX and a long time member of First Baptist Church in Denton, TX.

Born in Goose Creek (now Baytown), TX on February 13, 1932 to Ernest Tillery and Ruth Marie (Hancock) Bishop he graduated from Cedar Bayou High School where he was a star football player. He was one of seven children.He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Floyd and Herbert Bishop and two sisters, Jacqueline Bishop Clawson, and Gladys Bishop Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Martha and son Michael of Grapevine, TX, daughter and son-in-law Susan and Charles Holloway of Lake Kiowa, TX, granddaughter Megan Holloway of Fort Worth, TX, sister Susie Bishop Jones of Bryan, TX, brother and sister-in-law Hebert and Patsy Bishop of Wimberley, TX, brothers-in-law John Beck of Lake Kiowa, TX andDouglas Fuqua of Baytown, TX, sisters-in-law Louise Bishop of Baytown, TX and Laverne Bishop of Richards, TX, numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Jesse was a long-time Biology teacher and coach, and also worked in the insurance, investments, and oil and gas businesses. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, brother, and most of all, a devoted grandfather.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, June 30 th in the Cindy Nichols Chapel at First Baptist Church at 1100 Malone Street, Denton, TX. Visitation will be at 9:30AM, preceding the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Jesse Bishop be made to the Tioga ISD Kids Fund. Donations can be sent to:
