CHICO — J.W. Weaver, 77, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Crafton Baptist Church. Interment: 2 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
J.W. was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Decatur to Lizzie and J.A. Weaver. His first career was with Vandervoorts Milk Company. He began work later in the grocery business gaining experience in the butcher department and in management. Later with his wife, Patricia, they opened the J & P Grocery in Argyle which they owned and operated for 27 years.
J.W. was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Marie Sawyers, Lorraine Fingal and Ruby Johnson; three brothers, Jimmie Weaver, Charlie Weaver and Jimmie Lou Weaver.
Survivors: Wife, Patricia Weaver; son, Tim Weaver and wife, Lisa; daughter, Vanessa Gassiot and husband, John; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his niece who was like his sister, Betty Jo Waters.
