Mavis Ellison passed away on July 17, 2012 at her home in Denton. She was 103 years old. She was born December 28, 1908 in Farmersville, Texas. Her parents were John and Emma Reed. She was married to Charlie E. Ellison on March 13, 1927 in Aubrey, Texas.
Visitation will be Friday, July 20 at Denton Funeral Home from 6-7pm. Services for Mavis Eula Ellison of Denton will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:00am at Denton Funeral Home, 120 S Carroll Blvd. Jody Rowe will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters, Beatrice, Tula, Estelle, Opal, and Parthenia, brother Cecil, daughters Reta Hall, Bernita Wilson, and Evelyn Ellison, and son Charlie Worth Ellison all of Denton. Mavis is survived by her sister, Cleo Warden of Carthage, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Leta and Bob Lawson of Denton; sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert M. and Rita Ellison of Sanger, and Carl R. and Carol Ellison of Gold Hill, OR; daughter-in-law, Gail Ellison of Denton and care-giver Ronda Prueter. Mavis had eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and eleven great, great-grandchildren.She is loved and will be missed by a host of extended family and friends. Mavis was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was dearly loved by everyone who knew her.
