Joe Chism passed away Saturday, July 28 in Denton, Texas. He was born August 14, 1934 in Krum, Texas to Jehu and Reba Chism.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 31 from 6-8p at Denton Funeral Home in Denton, Texas. Service will be held at Sherman Drive Church of Christ, 2321 E. Sherman Drive, on Wednesday, August 1 at 11:00am with burial prior to service. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association www.kidneycancer.org .
Joe graduated from Krum High School in 1952 and then from Abilene Christian College in 1963. He worked for GMAC for 29 years. Joe was a long time member of Sherman Drive Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jehu and Reba Chism. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Verda of Denton; son Brad Chism and wife, Rebecca of Krum; daughters Jody Chambliss and husband Tommy of Tuscola and Jill Lewis and husband Kirk of Austin; granchildren Bettie Jo Senegal, Ted Chambliss, Bailey Chism, Nera Chism and Savannah Chism; great-grandson Bryce Senegal; brothers Olin Chism of Irving, Ronald Chism of Roanoke, Donald Chism of Katy, and Jim Chism of Krum; sister Sharon Brazeal of Weatherford; as well as a host of many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
