Funeral services for Mary Emily Meltabarger, 76, will be 10:00 am Friday morning at the First Christian Church with Reverend B.J. Gensic officiating. Interment will follow at Young Cemetery.

The daughter of the late Richard Bland and Nancy Isadore Rice Mills, Mary was born February 24, 1936 at Henryetta, Oklahoma and passed away in an Oklahoma City hospital August 1.

 Mary graduated from Henryetta High School and received her Associate’s Degree from Murray State College.She received her Bachelors of Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

She taught 26 years at Northwest Elementary, the first 23 years teaching first and second grades. Her final three years were with the sixth grade.She was an active member of the First Christian Church where she was choir director and also the bell choir director.She was a member of the quilting guild, active supporter of Loaves and Fishes, and member of the Retired Teachers Association and Family Community Education.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Addie Downing and husband Ron of Ardmore, Brenda McSween of Carrollton, TX; her son, Tim Meltabarger and wife Lucinda of Mustang, OK; her sister Nancy Maher and husband John of Ardmore, grandchildren, Donald Walker, Mandy Gibson, Brian, Brad and Reed Downing, Ric and Carly Meltabarger, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Her son Ric preceded her in death in 1990.

Serving, as bearers will be Donald Walker, Brian Downing, Brad Downing, Reed Downing, William Gibson and Ric Meltabarger.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, the Loaves and Fishes program or a charity of choice.
