Funeral services for Phyllis Ansley Griffin 76, of Denton are set for Sunday August 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Chapel with the Rev. Larry Kremling officating with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday August 4, 2012 from 2:00 til 4:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Phyllis was born on May 4, 1936 in Frederick OK to Leo and Bessie Johnson Ansley. She grew up in Gainesville, TX and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1954.While a senior in high school, Phyllis worked for her brother-in-law, Dr. Herbert Alston, an eye, ear, nose and throat doctor in Gainesville and later attended East Texas State University for a short time.Her love of politics lead her to live in Dallas and work with the Republican party for a brief period in 1963, and later she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from North Texas State University in 1969.

She married Dr. E. Ray Griffin (deceased) on February 21, 1968 and together they raised one child, Michele Griffin Mason who was born on March 2, 1970.Phyllis had many varied interests and passions in life including politics, writing, researching and compiling her family history, cooking, and sewing, but most of all she will be remembered as a loving, dedicated mother, homemaker, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter Michele and son-in-law Stuart Mason of Dallas, TX; granddaughter Ansley Myers of Jacksonville FL; one brother William Edmond " Boze " Ansley and sister-in-law Letha of Garland TX; brother-in-law Dr. C.E. " Buck " Jones husband of Marjorie Jones ( deceased ). Also survived by four step daughters, Beverly ( Mrs. Dennis T.) Riney of Krum, TX; Mary ( Mrs. Kenneth ) Warren of Midlothian VA; Rebecca ( Mrs. Pete ) Minton of Midlothian VA and their husbands, and Mrs. Martha GriffinEscobar of Midlothian VA and numerous grand and great- grandchildren who adored her. Pallbearers will be Barry Ansley, Stuart Mason, Ryan Redshaw, Dennis T. Riney, Blaine Rainey and Jacob Riney. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
