Sanford “Allen” Pierce, 81, of Denton, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at his home. He was born in Denton on August 5, 1931 to Isaac and Virginia (Mann) Pierce. He was a 1949 graduate of Denton High School. He was married to Jane Tipton Pierce on February 14, 1973 in Denton, and she died on January 18, 2007. He served in the U.S. Air National Guard. He worked in banking and investments. He loved to hunt, fish and travel, and in the recent past he went to Alaska, Hawaii, and Galveston.

Mr. Pierce is survived by his children, Valerie Constantino, Bob Pierce, Gayla and husband Don Stone, Dawn LaPorte and Blake Blakeley, and Candy and husband Dick Kersten; also a brother, Luther Mann; sister, Ann Cudd; daughter-in-law Vickie Shepherd. He also has five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Skeet Shepherd. Our family wishes to offer a special thanks to Becky for her special place in his life for the care she gave him.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust,Denton, with Rev. Sam Redfearn officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for visitation.
