Doyle Lee McCurry, a longtime former resident of Wichita Falls, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, August 20, 2012, in Denton, TX at the age of 82.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.

Doyle was born in O’Brien, TX on March 8, 1930, to the late Yvonne and T.G. McCurry.He attended Crockett Elementary School in Wichita Falls and Texas Country Day in Dallas.In 1946, Doyle entered the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. He married Christine Jeffress, on April 13, 1947.After attending Midwestern University, he worked in civil service at Sheppard Air Force Base until his retirement.Doyle’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating and gardening.He and Christine enjoyed traveling to South Padre Island, Florida and Caribbean cruises.Doyle loved to tinker and possessed excellent mechanical skills.In the 1950s, he built his own boat and water skis which were novel for the times.Married 52 years, Christine preceded him in death, on Nov. 27, 1999.In 2001, he married Carla Biehl, a retired lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force, where she served as nurse.She died in 2006.He was a member of Grace Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Christine and Carla and infant daughter, Karrie.

Doyle is survived by his son, Kimbell McCurry and wife, Linda of Overland Park, KS; a daughter, Karen Clark and husband, Tony of Denton; sister, Zody Saint of Costa Mesa, CA and grandchildren, Megan McCurry of New York, Lauren Scurry and husband, Tom of Austin, Katie Clark of Denton and Ben and wife, Natalie of Denton.

The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Lake Forest in Denton and especially nurses Sheila, Stella and Gia.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Doyle’s name to Grace Church or Faith Presbyterian Hospice.
