Wayne Lasater was born on January 14, 1938 in Denton, Texas and passed away on August 19, 2012 after a hard fought battle against cancer. He grew up and lived most of his life in Denton, graduating from Denton High School and the University of North Texas with a degree in business. He was married to Nita Lasater, also of Denton, for 30 years, and together they had three children. He worked for Colonial Savings for 39 years, during many of which he served as president of the financial institution. He retired in 2005 but continued serving on the Board of Directors for Colonial until his death. His favorite past times included fishing and vacationing in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Zella May Lasater, his beloved grandparents Brewer and Marcie Hart, his infant son Jeffrey Lasater, and his step-grandson Parker Meridith. He is survived by his son Joel Lasater of Sanger; daughter Lara Isbell and husband Deglen of Cross Roads; stepson Jimmy Meridith and wife Caryn of Oak Run, California; two brothers: George Lasater and wife Jan of Lorena, Leon Lasater and wife Judy of Lewisville; and one granddaughter: Shelby Isbell.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W. University Dr., Denton with the Rev. Buddy Owens officiating. Burial will follow at I00F Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6 P.M. until8 P.M. for visitation.
