Roger Dale Odom of Denton passed away peacefully Saturday, September 8.He was born in Gainesville, TX on November 21, 1949, and was the son of E. Dale Odom and LaVerne Masten Odom.He graduated from Denton High School in 1968 where he was a member of the golf team, attended the University of North Texas and graduated from Drilling Fluids Technology School in Imco Services, a division of Halliburton Company with special training in oil well blowouts in 1975, he worked out of the Houston District. He later operated the Speed Queen Laundry in Denton until leukemia forced his retirement.
He is survived by his parents, one sister, Phyllis Suzanne Koroly (Jeff) and one brother, Daniel Patrick Odom, uncles, Jimmy Odom (Marion), Neal Odom (Joane), Donald Masten ( Linda), and Larry Masten (Sue),aunts, Janell Odom Shelton (Grey) and Dorothy Belcher Masten, three nephews, one niece, one great-nephew, anda number of cousins.He was predceded in death by an uncle, Forrest Masten, and his grandparents, Roy and Dora Mae Odom, Clarence and Velma Masten.
A memorial service with visitation following will be held on September 15 at 2:00 P.M. in the Community Building at Primrose Apartments, 1400 E. University Drive, Denton.
