W. J. “Jackie” Smith, Jr. 63 of Denton, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at his home. He was born June 10, 1949 in Denton to W. J. and Dorothy Jean (Rollins) Smith, Sr.He was married to Carol Jean McCallum on October 17, 1981 in Argyle, TX He attended Public Schools and NCTC. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was retired from Acme Brick Company where he was in Manufacturing and Burning.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Carol Jean Smith of Denton, Daughters,Sandy and husband Wendell Wright of Denton,Wanda Smith-Borrero of Raleigh, NC,BarbaraIlene and husband Conrad Taylor of Krum,sons W. J. and wife Rhonda Smith III of Denton, and Russell and wife Irma Kerleeof Justin, eleven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Donna Gail Smith.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 A. M. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Belew Cemetery with Rev. Buddy Owens officiating, with burial in the Belew Cemetery.The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.for visitation.
